SHORT REVIEW PRIZE
The winner at HRFF-short-review competition is Tamara Kolarić for her review of Christian Petzold’s “Jerichow”. Runner-ups are ex aequo Domagoj Mihaljević, Dora Levačić and Stipe Radić.
SUNDAY AT HRFF: STRUGGLE AS LOVE AND DECEPTION
7th HRFF today we close with 2 features by The Yes Men and Rudolf Thome, and with Nemanja Cvijanović’s short. .. and then at a very end: a party at Kino Europa.
SATURDAY AT HRFF: ROSI, NESHAT, PETZOLD
On Saturday at HRFF we show a classical political movie about Italian construction-mafia; a first feature-length movie by famous Iranian artist Shirin Neshat and the most recent title by German author Christian Petzold.
Day 5: Rabbits, Walls and Hitchcocks
Films on Friday will bring you to Berlin, Jerusalem and Hollywood. Rabbits, gays and doubles.
DAY 4: Human Rights Day
Our programme at the Human Rights Day begins with the discussion on the solidarity of the excluded, while the films depict the struggle to get the right to have rights and the complexities of a life in a world where working place as fixed category has become doubtable.
Anja Iveković-Martinis: A melancholic optimist
Anja Iveković-Martinis who won the first short-review competition at HRFF portrays Lav Diaz. His most recent “Butterflies have no memories” will premiere at our Festival.
MAROJE MRDULJAŠ: Visionaries at CVJETNI TRG
Essay by Maroje Mrduljaš dealing with the broader cultural implications of the gentrification of Cvjetni trg in Zagreb. A case being the prime example of the construction-boom in Zagreb and Croatia, restructuring both the urban and the political landscape at large scale.
DAY 3: ON RIGHTS & DREAMS
The third festival-day will focus on the Right to the City. Exhibition documenting the struggle for public space in Zagreb will be opened, and we organize a discussion related to that. Movies shown today will sketch 3 different geographical setups (Norway, Japan, Ethiopia) of survival within the new brave world.
DAY 2: ON DYNAMITE AND MEN
On Day 2 HRFF will open in Rijeka with White Material, while the programme in Zagreb continues with 3 features by Farocki, Mimica and El Habre and a short by Zoran Tadić.
